I had this absolute "crazy" idea the other day to begin organizing and simplfying my life, as well as my family. There are so many distractions throughout the day that I couldn't stand it. I noticed I had slowly been spending less time with my daughter (who I stay home all day with). I was so attached to my iPhone and social media that I wasn't focusing completely on her. My husband would come home from work and the house was ALWAYS a complete mess.
My excuse? "She runs wild and won't let me do anything... you don't understand!" We would constantly fight about this. I thought he just wasn't being caring enough. Well, I took a step back to realize it was all on me.. it really was! This is my job and I wasn't doing it. I wasn't performing my mommy and wife duties at all.
So, I took the plunge and slowly have begun 'de-socializing' my life. The only "social" app that remains on my device is Instagram. Deactivating my Facebook was a true test. It felt like so much weight had been lifted off of my shoulders. The past 24 hours have been amazing. The house looks wonderful, I feel productive and I'm beginning to think more about future goals. Heck, even blogging a little feels great! It is possible to have mommy-mode, as well as setting out to better yourself too.
Time to begin my business plans for what I have always wanted to do. Baking my heart out. I'm thinking a 5-year plan.. no rush! But, in all honesty, I have always wanted my side baking business and I am hoping this gives me enough motivation to start doing just that! Picking up reading again will be another thing that I believe will be good for myself. Relaxing is nice, obviously, but I need to finally work on MY goals, MY interests, MY life. It's finally time for this mom to begin what she truly believes in!
I will get back to you on my progress through this de-cluttering / simplifying phase, but until then, I really suggest you think about it. We are all so much more productive without the mindless distractions from our technologies!
